Myrtle is a small, unincorporated community in Oregon County, Missouri. It is fourteen miles southeast of Alton, near the Arkansas state line.Myrtle was laid out in 1878, and named after Myrtle Moore, the daughter of a local merchant. A post office called Myrtle has been in operation since 1884.Children attend Couch Public School, a few miles north of town on Highway 142.
